Product Description

Details

This snuggly Merino Zipsuit with grippy soles is designed for sleep! It's warm enough for kids who kick off their covers, so they won't wake up cold. And it's also perfect for using with one of our sleeping bags, Sleep Store duvets or some light blankets for those children who manage to keep their bedding on or who prefer to layer up.

Our production team here at The Sleep Store have worked hard to bring you this Super Deluxe stripe Merino. If you loved our deluxe stripe merino in seasons past, you will be sure to love this improved Super Deluxe fabric! Made from 250gm of 100% merino, it offers buttery softness, a comfortable amount of stretch for our kiddies, all while keeping the zipsuits shape! The Zipsuit features fold over feet with grippy soles to keep little feet warm and safe and an easy to use double-ended zipper, so you can do night nappy changes without taking the whole suit off.

Why do we love Merino so much? Known as the 'miracle fibre' when it comes to infant sleep, Merino wool is a naturally temperature-regulating and moisture wicking fibre. It will help to keep baby warm in winter but also cool in the warmer months without waking up clammy. It has the ability to naturally lock away odours, releasing them when washed or aired - this can mean less washing... yay! Merino is also naturally fire retardant. Of course we recommend keeping your children well away from any heaters and fires ("a metre from the heater!") but Merino is a naturally low fire danger fabric.

Please note these are a night time garment, designed for use in bed.  Your child may love their Zipsuit and end up in it all day, crawling round the floor. However please note that our returns policy does not cover worn out knees from crawling! These are a sleepwear garment and have not been treated in any way with anti-pilling processes to ensure they remain as soft and cosy as possible. So yes, you will likely experience pilling from the super soft yarn rubbing against the inside of a sleeping bag or against sheets.

About our sizing
Our own brand garments follow the Australasian standard AS1182-1997 for sizing and are made with room to grow. Our Size 2 clothing for example is made to fit the standard’s average sized 2.5 year old comfortably.

Tips on how to measure your child
Height/Length - Our height measurement doesn't include a child's head and neck length. Standing straight with a flat foot measure from the base of the heel up to either the top of the shoulder. You may find it easiest for younger children to stand with their back to a wall to do this. Make a small pencil mark on the wall at either the top of the shoulder or head and ask the child to step away before measuring from the floor up to the pencil mark.
Chest - Place tape measure under the arms and measure around the chest at the fullest part until your fingers meet.
Arm - With arms down by the side and relaxed, measure from the wrist to the top of the arm before the shoulder curve. If you are unsure where the true shoulder curve starts, then gently place your flat hand (or another flat item like a ruler) on the shoulder and measure up to this point.
Hips - Measure below the waist at the fullest part of the hip bringing the tape measure round until your fingers meet.
Inside leg - With a flat foot, measure from the heel of the foot, up the inside of the leg to the crotch. Inside leg may sometimes be referred to as the inseam.

Please note - Measurements are taken when garments are laid flat. Areas such as chest, waist and hips are calculated at twice the width to get the full measurement.

Materials & Care

Materials

Merino sleeping bags, bedding, swaddles and clothing are easy to care for when following the correct guidelines. Please see our care instructions included with your garment.

These are a sleepwear garment and have not been treated in any way with anti-pilling processes to ensure they remain as soft and cosy as possible. So yes you will likely get pilling on them from the super soft yarn rubbing against the inside of a sleeping bag or against sheets.

Fabric
100% interlock merino wool - 250gsm
Woolmark Extra Fine - 19.5 Microns
Certified STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX
Washing
Gentle (wool cycle) machine or hand wash in cold or 30°C water with liquid wool wash
Drying
Dry immediately - lay flat or hang dry
Do not tumble dry

I'm naturally fluffy

These garments are naturally fluffy but washing separately for the first few washes will help the natural wool fibres on the inside to settle and will free any excess fluff.

Care for your merino

As with many wool garments, you may experience a bit of pilling on this garment. Please note this is often due to a soft fibre such as merino rubbing against other fabrics, such as flannelette sheets. We consider pilling a normal part of wear and tear on a soft merino garment. We could have treated the fabric much more to reduce pilling but then it would lose its lovely, snuggly softness.

Please take care with moths

Protect your Merino from small holes created by insects such as moths and silverfish. Ensure your garments are clean before storing. Lavender and Cedar wood are noxious to these pests so storing your garments with these scents or a moth trap will help protect your knitwear further.

Love your Merino and it will love you back!
