“How can I help?” This is something I’m sure we are all asking ourselves following the recent devastation to so many communities. Here are some ways you can provide practical help.
Cyclone Gabrielle Relief - How Can We Help?
Cyclone Gabrielle Relief
Donate money to a verified organisation
We’re still in a state of National Emergency, and right now the real need is for essentials - food, water & shelter. So the absolute best way YOU can help is to donate money to an official organisation such as the Red Cross, Mayoral Relief Funds or a charity working on the ground. These organisations are helping with what is really needed, right now, for the people with urgent need. Every little bit helps, please just donate if you can afford to.
Organisations in the midst of a disaster do not have the capacity to deal with mountains of donated items even when gifted with the best intentions. Do not give items unless they have been specifically requested by an organisation delivering emergency aid with the ability to store, sort and distribute donations.
Let our community help you.
We’ve got a gifting post in our VIP Group.
If you, or someone you know, is in desperate need for a baby or kids item right NOW ( i.e they need a Baby Carrier or Portacot or bottles etc), please join our VIP Group. The gifting post is pinned to the top of our page – comment with what you need & where you’re located so our community can help gift you that item if they have one to give and live nearby.
If you want to gift baby & kids items, keep an eye on this post for what people need, and jump in if you can help locally with an immediate need. Once roads & couriers are operating, we can open this up to items that can be sent to those in our community.
Want to contribute to an item someone in our community really needs?
The time will come for material things when people start to rebuild their lives. The path ahead will be long and difficult for a lot of families. If you’d like, you can donate to The Sleep Store Community Fund, which will be used to help with these needs as they are requested by our customers and community.
